This is a just thread where we can all build castles in the sky..Tell us what you want to achieve through forex..

As they say, money makes the world go round, but I don't want much. In fact, it can just supplement my existing income.
I would just love to be in a position where I can purchase a reliable vehicle (it can even be second hand!) with a tow bar and a caravan, so myself and my wife can travel a bit in our country, return and work a bit and do it over. Perhaps a camper RV will be a better investment.

I am definitely not the type of guy that wants a yacht and ferrari.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far..Go together..

That's pretty much what I want too - to supplement my income. I am not looking to get rich.

I find that the markets absolutely fascinate me. I'm looking to make money (I have kids I'm trying to put through school) but more than that I'm looking to MASTER this, the trading analysis, the equity management to make sure the account grows, the emotions involved in trading and life.

Along with the personal development that I will master as a result of studying the market, I will make a comfortable retirement happen - sooner rather than later.

You know what moves the market? There are two factors – fear and greed. If you start to supplement your income more often I guaranteed to you that you will become greedy – you will said to yourself – I want a bigger house, new car or something like that. Seeing that you have success on the market making small amount constantly – you will decide to raise the bar – put the big money – and then…
The wishes are good thing, but you need to stay on the ground, not to live in the clouds. Developing the system which brings you success is long and hard work.

So we agree then that these dreams can become goals and one can work towards that?

I once heard a saying which I think hits home hard : 'the poorest man on earth is not the man without a cent, but a man without a dream'

Yes trendfollowers, we may agree that the dreams may become goals and anyone of us to try to accomplish them. This is not one sided process and have to learn every day to achieve them. Everyone who starts trading on the market has something which he wishes to achieve with that – no matter if those are money, or learning new things. My opinion is that the person who wants to made good performance for long time period should be down to earth, and not living in dreams. Yes it is better to have, but it is hard if not fill your dreams, to fall from the castle you’ve build.

How long did you practise on a demo and then on a live account before you moved onto trading for a living?

At the beginning I played with demo accounts for a year.
Nowadays I do backtest account for 5 years, fwd test on demo for 3 months and than start small live account.

I see. That is a very sound plan. I'm not sure when I'll move onto full-time trading but it's good to hear from professionals.

I am already trading with a small sum of money, my point was that I cannot do it every day because I busy with my other job. Thank you for the advice though, I'll keep it mind. :)

Well at some point you need to reach the decision stay in your day job with all the positive and negative or leave and trade for living.
It depends on your approach to life. I could say it was the best decision I have ever made.
