Dear Traders,

I suffered from 'Live Update' of MT4.

Live Update was suddenly executed, and several minutes after Live Update, EAs got some wrong price data. As a result, they traded as they should not have done, leading to make significant losses.

Having experienced this, I would like to implement some codes which can stop EAs during 30 minutes after Live Updates.

Could you share some ideas how to implement this into code?

My user account control setting is set to 'always notify' so that it can't just randomly update and mess things up.. It has happened in the past that it updated and wiped all my EAs and profiles.. I do some manual trading as well and it resets the trading lots every time.. Since then I manually allow it to update when I don't trade.. I have mentioned this before and I will emphasise again... If it wasn't that one could use it to run such a diverse variety of custom indicators and EAs., I would have moved along a long time ago.. #ihatemt4

Just set your os to 'always notify' first.. It will then ask you first.
My accounts will ALWAYS show high DD. This is done purposely to maximize our withdrawals every week.

i want to say that for a long time there i was simply in love with metatrader, and i am an old school programmer with 34 years of experience at programming..

but all of this update stuff, omg, does metaquotes definitely have their head shoved up in a dark place....

why, omg, does my trading platform require these updates?

do you know the one that i really thought was retarded? do you remember that update a few years ago where they moved all of the subdirectories around and they implemented that stupd sandbox bullsht?

now that they have implemented security procedures for my metatrader platform, if i want to read or write files that are outside of this ridiculous sandbox, i have to use a DLL, i am screaming mad about this..

metatrader has gotten so fkng stupd, omg.

a trading platform should just run and run and run and run...

i should be able to go on vacation and know that it will continue running...

i should not need to watch out for update alerts with the possibility that my trading platform might refuse to operate?

another thing that metatrader has screwed up about is these ridiculous advertisements INSIDE OF MY TERMINAL FOR THESE BRAINDEAD trading bots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MARKET? SIGNALS? CODEBASE? omg.... stop it already? they are turning a beautiful platform into the home shopping network, instead of keeping it as my TRADING TERMINAL TOOL.

i hate this metatrader now and can hardly wait to find a suitable alternative.

edward.

Thank you. Good help.

It seems setting 'always notify' is a solution.

Live update just sucks, it often restart MT4 without proper profile so trades loss control
It is much easier to just prohibit live update and allow it manually sometimes

MT4 is one of the reasons I stay with OAnda/FXPro and use their platforms, clean simple and works for me, plus I am a lazy bastrd and can do all my logging data via Myfxbook. I always thought MT4 was a bit like Windows. Once you get an update you have to learn all over again where all your sht is.
