Some brokers chart bonds
Bund, Bobl, Schatz, Gilt, JGB, 2YR, 5YR, 10YR, BTPP

If you included this perhaps a competitive spread will come about.

My understanding is that this is even more liquid than Forex.
And banks are moving out of the prop trading business, so retail participant numbers ought to be increasing.
