Question: We are trying to find out the best stoploss number. currently we are using 30% as our stoploss but almost never we get close to it. What would be the best number for the stoploss based our history? We need the answer to be discussed on the forum and to should make sense to all active traders of the EA. We will announce the winner in 2 weeks (December 22nd). Please think out loud, correct each other and lets come to a conclusion we all benefit from.

Reward: WE WILL GIVE OUT A FREE LICENCE TO WHOMEVER COMES UP WITH THE BEST ANSWER.

Alex,

The question you asked: What would be the best number for the stoploss based our history?
Simple answer: 9.75% 8-nov-14

BUT

According to this account the biggest drawdown were:
8-oct 9.75%
18-nov 8.34%

If we take a look in the other account (yours) ended on september:
29-jul 23.27%
30-ju 22.83%
02-sep 24.35%
03-sep 35.07%
17-sep - 29.38%

I'd like to see askew8 and fxtrader2010 opinions ;)

I kinda agree it @filipesantos except for the fact that I was also involved in the wrong end of that massive drawdown prior to the opening of the new account. GBP was hitting some heavy lows and we were in a BUY basket. Your account didn't close out but some of ours did.

If we go according to your current account, your largest drawdown day is at about 10% but I'm pretty sure it is larger than that (mfb is known to not be very accurate with its drawdown) Either way, if your drawdown is at a max of 26%, I think what needs to be taken into consideration is the risk vs. reward. You make about 70% per month, (not sure if anyone else is seeing those same results because you have a broker that only seems to close all your trades in profit 😁) but based on that, if you set the stop at 20% even, and hit that once every 3 months (just to assume you cant always win), your curve and gains will still always be amazing.

@filipesantos this is still a grid/martaingale-ish EA and we will ALWAYS need wiggle room to move the account in the right direction.

Thoughts all?

this is a very good question as I have been thinking alot myself personally about this actually in recent days! Its hard to say that with changing the equity stop out setting as this will effect the expected payoff and all this is just done off the top of head at best, so the numbers can only be slighlty optimized. However given the improved accuracy we have seen in recent months with BMEA I would feel comfortable with a 20% stop out, as this would still offer plenty of room should we get a runner go against us and would the case it go to far we could easily recoup that loss in a short amount of time given the accuracy and results we have seen. So 20% is my number.

Why would you change this Stoploss (30%) ? It works perfect as I can see from the previous trades. and trades are turning in short term anyway.

Could you please explain why you are looking to change this?

Guys.

These numbers that you are mentioning are nice and good for big accounts...I tried this EA on both large and small ( 100.000 and 1000 ) There is a big difference in the Stoploss rules. I personally believe if we are trading on big numbers I can agree with 20, but if is a small account it must be around 30.

I had trades that were stoped at 30, but the another account was still trading and at the end came out with a great profit.

My numbers:

Accounts >10.000 = 20
Accounts <10.000 = 30

@bluemonkey I have a suggestion to adjust the stoploss.

You should re-code a bluemonkeyEA without the 'news alerts' that prevent us from doing a backtest.
So you do a backtest with this new EA by trying the different parameters 'initial lot/balance' and 'stoploss level' and you'll can determinate the best settings.

The question is to know how many time will the stoploss level be touched by 'each pairs by month' compared with the percentage of income by month.

The agressive traders will touch the stoploss many times because they know perhaps their incomes by month will recover all the loss.
The safe traders will set a lower lot/balance to not have to touch the stoploss and to be stressless.

I have a concept concerning the drawdown which would allow us to limit the losses when we arrive at its threshold.
It would allow to take important positions without losing everything.

If @bluemonkey wish that I explain.

As I remember the crazy BMEA survived when Alex set it 50% as his e mail to me. So keeping lower lots and stop out at 60% can give survive account. Lower stop out will be a frequent loss in an against trending market. I do not know what setting he is using for the account published in myfxbook.com for Version 1.1

Hi bluemonkey. Your system is fantastic. I had a very good experience with robots Steinitiz Group. Bought 03 robots on their website, the Reaper, Fractal Pterodactyl and Volatility Sar. Both broke 03 different accounts of $ 2,000 each. with a total loss of $ 6,000. Well, do not believe in miracles financial, after all no one would sell the duck that lays golden eggs for so little money. My question is, I know it is impossible to guarantee profit using robots, but I buying a license (I have interest in buying average of 50 to manage the portfolio of my clients) you offer constant support? And updates? It would be possible to talk on skype: 'erich.lamounier'? Do you offer any kind of guarantee in the operation of your system? Thank you.

Does it matter that the ea is opening more positions than what you have?
