hi there your trading system looks good. I mean personally I feel anything based on PA have more success rate long term as long as our TP/SL is flexible (such as placed at latest low or high) and I agree with you that backtesting is important. I have to disagree with someone who said backtesting is not important because result is different from forwardtesting.

That's not true because no matter what you do your result month by month would never be the same. Some months you will have more profits and some months you have less profits and once in a time (esp. after years in trading) you would even having losing months which is quite normal. Point is, if you only forwardtesting for 3-6 months and you see that result is a bit different from your (let's say) 3 years backtests that's because you have too less samples.

The logic is like we are testing IQ of average person in one country. The final result would be definitely different if we test only 10 people in that country compared to if we test 1000 people, you know what Im trying to say? Backtesting might not mean everything but it gives confidence, expectation on what kind of drawdown in bad market condition, and especially your results in different market situation. It's good but not everything. I would say backtest is even more important than forwardtesting (unless you plan to forwardtest your method for a full year).

But eventually what matters the most is definitely money management. Nice to know someone trading manual here, good luck btw!

Well, thanks bazz4ab for the insight. I also feel based PA based trading technique really have high success rate. In my early days of trading, someone told me that candlestick also is indicator. So, what the point trading based on indicator that calculate on other indicator...

But please... I know someone who just use stoch but still profit every month... Coz the technique is not as important as MM. Exit more important than entry right...

I do agree with you, its hard to maintain profitable each month. Lately I change my MM strategy to withdraw whenever I reach certain target, rather wait for end of the month to calculate how much I profit. Starting this month... Let's see what happen then.

Loss is inevitable. The trick is to win more than loss.

However, not all people are same. No one can claim there are right about something in term of trading. Because as far as I know, there is no trader who not taste losses in their trading year. If backtest is no good for them, let them be... Everyone have their own trading skill, reflecting their own experience and persona.

As for me, backtesting is must. I manage risk and money with my backtest result. History can show us something, but never certain for future occurrence.

Hm... the biggest so far. Stress... Last 3 days I just slept doing nothing. Its counter-stress mechanism for myself. After then I re-evaluate from my backtest result... Well...

This lost looks normal.

Now, I just need to trade like the way I did back then. And trust my system will reach into profitable zone. This part I call psychology... Which will break first... Market... or me...
