Do not do it. If you check the system efficiency, you can see the big drawdown, four losing months in a row and the loss of consistency. Two years of hard work of generating profit is gone. It is a new situation, not seen in any backtest yet. My advice is to wait untill the situation is normal again. It can last two ears, or five months.

Mokhtar;

If you haven't been trading growth bot in a real account yet, this may be an excellent time to start trading it. While I agree with Anglican that the situation may yet not be normal, you are at a low risk entry point on this system. The equity curve has just turned up off of its lows, and it has put in a higher low and a higher high. Draw a trend line across the the two recent lows and start trading. If the equity curve violates the trend line, then stand aside once again.

There are no guarantees in this game. What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow and vice versa. Since you don't know what will work and when it will work, the only thing you can really do is play the game and manage your risk.

@Michigander

Mokhtar is really a new guy. He should watch and do some more homework you know.

deysmacro;

I respectfully disagree. Homework means you know how to run the system and you now how the system runs. It sounds like he has done that through demo trading. This really is a low risk entry point based on the setup and parameters previously mentioned. Assuming he understands that, then what more homework needs to be done? You can do more 'homework' by waiting another 6 months and watching it recover, at which point you'll complain about not getting back in. It may break to new lows and you'll know that fairly soon as well and you'll step aside due to the risk management you have in place.

Um . . . No. Statistically, risk is the same whether you enter at a high or a low. People have a tendency to look for patterns in things but looking at the math, your risk is the same. As we all know, past results do not indicate future results. Growth bot has had a large drawdown; it does not mean it will move into a profit before the next one. Past performance shows that a 68% drawdown is possible. What if instead of recovering, there is another 68% drawdown? Boom!!! If you must take the risk, wait until it climbs up to the channel (connect the lows and connect the highs) At least then it will be back to a statistical recovery. Better yet, don't take the risk.

FGB lost its edge, strategy worked long enough hasn't it? Now without reworking it what can we expect?

@All

No more comments from me. Looking at how this thing goes are much more fascinating and can make me gain experience while at it too. I still do my homework as we speak here by the way. 😎

Equity curve is broken long time ago and before not getting above again i guess it´s the best to stay away. I´m out since the curve is broken.

once you change an EA code; it become something else.

we are talking about FGB; not about your *something else*

FGB is dead.

if you want us to beleive your crap is profitable; post live trades; otherwise shut up; and help the losers here stay away from a zombie EA.

if you have nothing to do; do something useful; like learning how to moon walk.

The markets continually change and using only 1 specific strategy results in stellar runs than a fall. If we knew when bots were going to fail, we would invest during periods of DD and pull our profits at record highs and find something else struggling. My scalper is an idea in between.

I agree with traveltrader and scalpastic on this one. Equity curve was broken a long time ago, which makes FGB very dangerous to trade with -- no matter what optimized settings are used. Better to revisit the bot performance every second week and see how it flails around at the bottom of its draw down tomb. I don't see it reviving anytime soon.

There were three problematic time periods that affected EURUSD:
1.6.2010 - 1.10.2010
1.12.2011 - 31.1.2012
1.4.2013 - 17.6.2013
Many robots had problems in these periods, the latter one affected FGB as well.
In generall, the problem is that the market changed; the breakouts are not the sign of a rally anymore. The significant price changes are faster and shorter and many traders trade against them, taking advantage of retracements. This situations often turn the market other way. The strategy of following breakouts seems to be dead for some time. An edge may be hidden in a smaller take profit in connection with the FGB strategy, i.e. 5 - 7 pips

All instruments have 'problematic time periods' all the time.

They are no problem for a real robot that has been developed using historic price data for working in those periods.

FGB has only one problematic time period, and that was switching from the faked equity curve to real trading at the end of 2012.
