Oh.. my MDPEURUSD_1.6 not trading tonight on NFP.
In order for MDP to trade, the pip gaps per candle stick need to be at least 20 pips ..
Just wondering who else trade on MDPUSDJPY_1.6, it's quiet too ..

backtesting the MDP is useless except for understanding what the settings do ...at least in my opinion.... I say this because it is so sensitive to spread fluctuations, and volatility/volume for slippage, etc. None of that stuff is factored in when the strategy tester runs and it is the most important part of whether mdp works of not.

Also....If anyone is looking to trade MDP on FXOpen....give up. I have caught them stalling my orders on purpose and they have their system all tied up nicely with their legal documents. There is nothing you can do about it even if you do have hardcore proof.

Fughe - I thought you had found a way around FXOpen's slow execution times - does your method not work anymore?

Also, did you set SO = 2 with FXOpen?

I did find a way around.....but a 4 second delay is not possible to circumvent. Normal trade delays of 1 second...I can bypass that problem. Plus.....I had proof it was done intentionally. But....it is in their rules when you sign up...so i can't bitch about it to them.

Hi all,
This seems to be a good bot, I've seen a few live accounts with good results and the backtests with dukascopy tick data support that....

I've been running MDP on Hotforex VIP and Thinkforex Pro accounts, these both have very low spreads, ECN accounts and are commission based however, it takes only 20-30% of the trades listed on the myfxbook accounts, I'm running all default settings, does anyone know if there are settings that need to be modified in order for this bot to function properly? of the trades that it is taking, it seems to be working well...

the error messages on the Hotforex VIP account chart are:
!ECN Conditions failed (Use_stop_orders_adjusted) : stop level 0.00030 > 0.00020
!ECN condition for order modification time failed (setting lower max_simultaneous_orders may help) 2999ms >1000ms

Error messages on Thinkforex pro account are:
!ECN condition for order modification time failed (setting lower max_simultaneous_orders may help) 2391ms >1000ms

I'm running both on separate VPS accounts,
HOTFOREX on UK VPS with <8ms
and
THINKFOREX on NYC VPS with <3ms

any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Nathan

dont worry its just a message that show rather your ECN condition are meet or not when ever it meet the condition it will change the message. the ping timing is good enough to get some good trades dont worry if its working fine at your side then no need to test any further setting.

Thanks pakfx, it seems like the ping times are good but the error message saying that the order modification time failed is concerning, I'm guessing that my broker is taking too long to process the trade requests at 2300ms and 2999ms instread of the specified <1000ms.... And I saw an earlier post saying the bot will only work well if processing is around 800ms or better... Does that make any sense to anyone?

I am totally serious about this. If you are getting delays that long, there are only a couple reasons for it.

#1- internet connection failed....if you are still getting incoming ticks, then this cannot be the case because mt4 would have a disconnect error in the log and you would not be getting price updates until after the mt4 server is reconnected.

#2- your broker cannot handle the client load and needs to upgrade their servers. They will know if this is the problem because the incoming order load will crash their servers.

#3- your broker is intentionally delaying your orders. Most people don't realize this, but even in an ECN mt4 account, the broker can still use the mt4 plugin to take the opposite side of your trades and delay your orders from being sent to market.

Thanks Fughe,

I totally agree and I thought it could be some or all of those issues too,
#1 there are no internet connection issues in the log and my vps promises 99.9% uptime so perhaps the chances of the connection going down at the time of trading would be quite low however still possible but in this case looks fine
#2 This could be an issue and is the most likely, although I've been assured by both brokers that the servers are working properly.. I may ask them to move my account to another server to test however
#3 when checking the FAQ's and terms and conditions they both (thinkforex and Hotforex) stipulate that no opposing trades will be taken at any time against their clients.

so I'm really not sure, hotforex spreads are 0.2-0.8 pips most of the time on EURUSD and thinkforex pro spreads are 0.6-1.1 and are showing 100% and 93% on the condition of low spread met on the MDP chart respectively so it's not that.

in the log I am getting alot of errors on hotforex: 'Modification denied, order too close to market' after some google searching it looks like this is due to the new modified TP being too close to the TP already in place however I can't be sure, this should not affect exiting a loss position however it would appear

with Thinkforex the logs are very ocassionally showing Buy stop order failed (invalid TP or SL)
and Modification failed (trade is disabled)

since I put it on a week ago I'm showing:
Thinkforex up +$500 and hotforex is down around -$700
Which is interesting because hotforex has the lower spreads, but it does have slightly higher latency on my VPS (7ms vs. 3ms with thinkforex), more error messages in the logs for order modification/execution and higher processing time of 2999ms instead of around 2300ms

thanks again for all your valuable input guys!

If they specifically stated they will not take the opposite side of your trade, that does not mean they won't delay your position from being filled. Plus, it also doesn't mean they won't just outright lie to you the way FXCM has been lying to their clients for years. You gotta remember, these are big corporate machines and they care only about how much money they can make. If good customer trading conditions makes them a lot of money, then that is what they will have. If cheating their clients is what will make them the big money, that is exactly what they will do. EVEN IF it is illegal. All they will do is hire some lawyers and accountants to figure out if they will still have made more money overall if they do get caught. If they can still turn a profit even if they get caught....they will most definitely do it.

About hot forex...you need to shut off the stop orders and hard trailing. You basically have proof they are delaying your orders btw. Hot forex has not been this slow until fairly recent history. They are delaying your orders.

I agree Fughe, thanks for the advice, I notice a few other posts stating they have turned off those 2 settings, I'll certainly see if that makes a difference... I'm also going to run a broker execution test from forex-expats and see what it comes back with...

@corporatemonkey, i think you should close your hotforex account as i did it last week. i did open live account at hotforex, then a day after it, closed it due to they have every bad latency (> 300ms) with my vps. now, i'm going to test the latency of instaforex since one of their server closed to my vps. so far, bad latency happen among EXNESS - my vps, fxopen (ECN) - my vps, and hotforex - my vps.

I can already tell you the tests will come back fine. You won't find any problems unless you are putting out real trades.

the order open time and modification time is to high, but as fughe tell you the whole story. He is 100% correct, he is also right in that you wont get the correct things until you trade live.

there are some other brokers who give you good order execution and modification times if you can find true ECN then that would be good i dont know what happ with hotforex

or fughe already give his setting.

I can remember sombody giving details for for VPS's some time ago, but I cant seem to find it,
and I have tried running MDP on the VPS that my brokker provides, but the terminal keeps crashing,

I have established it is the version of the C++ libraries that is in windows that is old, but I am not yet able to get my broker to upgrade this...

I do NOT have access to the windows itself, only to a web based terminal screen...

Cheers
