Only a fool can believe HFT can trade similarly on demo and real. For me if a robot can make even steady 10% a month without drawdown bigger than 5% it is a fantastic robot. I run MDP only 1 month on a live account, so far it is 54% up and draw down was around 5% max.
AutoApplyECN only makes difference whether it will automatically change your values related to use stop orders and hard trailing. Actually without stop orders you have more chances to miss a trade since you occationally may receive and off-quotes error or requote when trying to open a market order.

so thinkforex is now hosting all their servers with Rackspace in San Antonio... at some point they moved from New York without telling anyone.. the ping time from my NYC VPS has dropped from 1-2ms down to 9ms-12ms.. the trace route test I performed confirmed it.... the distance is huge, it's like Moscow to London.. and no doubt thier liquidity providers are still in New York further increasing the lag time and increase in off-quotes and slippage.. that would explain why I was doing quite well and then not all of a sudden... low latency is so important.. might also be part of the reason why their servers went down for 8+ hours yesterday.. massive chart gaps, missed all the trades yesterday....
MDP chart is now showing 2500ms-3000ms for opening and modification times amoungst other errors.. still not quite as bad as my old Hotforex account but still not great...
anyone recommend a good ECN broker to move to? haha

"(as evidenced by tick chart data - there is a whole article about that somewhere how you can tell between brokers what type of liquidity providers they have just by checking out the 1 min or tick data."
You can look back at the posts earlier in this thread. It has already been tried and didn't work quite well at all. My theory after some research is that they "toot their horn" more than really are.
Their relationships with liquidity providers is fairly minimal (as evidenced by tick chart data - there is a whole article about that somewhere how you can tell between brokers what type of liquidity providers they have just by checking out the 1 min or tick data. Someone may be able to post it here)
Also, what type of self-respecting company hosts themselves up in Denmark. If your a real player, you will host in a place where you have direct and very close access to the FX centers of the world so you have fast data and quick execution - just food for thought after a lot of research.
Erica123, am interested in it, can you provide the source?
thanks

wow, Not shocked really, but thank you for this information. I've been watching a group full of accounts (profitable) at thinkforex and I'll be expecting a change in performance if this is true. The ping time to server is still sufficient to make trades, however, the execution time will surely never work and this would explain WHY thinkforex did this move. ( its to save their *ss). Profitable Broker setups are not a secret guys. You can do a simple search on this website and find the good setup. I did this myself and I found a solid setup at a regulated ECN. If you can't do this yourself PM me and I'll share. How long will the setup work is the question that everyone is asking. The good news is that this broker is embracing HFT and upgrading their capacity to suit their client base.
Please plug in your MDP execution times here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjzNuD3Nx5judHBWdGR2YkwyVU1XQ1JjOFdObmFISnc&hl=en_US#gid=0
You can hide your VPS - Name - setting etc if you don't want to share. This data is for testing and evaluating Broker's Back End and nothing more.

beyond that, what about rewritting the EA to work with FIX Currenex Accounts?
This is actually the direction that I am going myself as MT4 servers were never designed for HFT. I should have something working within a month ( demo ) and after the tests I'll go live. It will be written for FIX API, so I wouldn't be limited to 1 specific broker =)

so there must be a way to get faster execution times..
has anyone thought to try and reprogram MDP and convert the EX4 to work with the Dukacopy JForex platform directly?
anyone?
I thought about this as well since Dukascopy is well known with OrderDesk for liquidity figures. However, my Dukascopy account was closed down a few months back ( NFA ) and I don't see the light anymore. I'm sure someone will bound to try and they'll probably have success regarding execution time and liquidity. However, Dukascopy's servers aren't in London ( if my research was true) so I'm sure there will be high latency somewhere. Run some times, and share.

http://www.roustech.com/fx-bridge/
this is an interesting bridge that MT4 brokers may be using to make sure they can match your order before giving you the confirmation.
Also allows
-- Capture more profit from spread. Effective configuration of the bridge ensures access to increased spread profit.

I used thinkfx on a live account and it was the same as the finfx setup on live. The demos were very good and the live real money accounts didnt match up and lost to much to keep me happy. I prefer IBFX even though its not a ECN, its a fairly stable broker and the spikes dont seems to be as wild and crazy with all those slips in the market, thus more profit.

so IBFX are based out of the states, that means you would have to set the FIFO setting to true, does that negatively influence the profitability of the trades?

IBFX USA is in USA, 50x leverage, FIFO true.
IBFX Australia, 400x leverage, FIFO False.
If you are not US residents, go with IBFX australia then

The ratio hasnt had any profit issues if you stay on 1.5% risk. On some friends accounts I have offered to lower the risk to .75% on 1:200 to 1:500 accounts as a precaution measure at least for the first few weeks to get a feel for the higher ratio of leverage trading with MDP.
