📈 Strategy Journal Update by cashflow202 – Filtering Out the Noise 🚀Date: 6 July 2025
Hey traders,
Quick update on the algo progress. Over the past few months, the core strategy has been delivering exceptionally consistent results on most major pairs and indices. However, after diving deep into the stats, it’s clear that the only times the algorithm gets significantly derailed is when it trades exotic pairs or instruments with wide spreads and low liquidity.
🔍 Key insightsTrades on majors, top indices, and blue-chip stocks are performing with 90-100% win rates on many instruments, pushing the overall equity curve nicely. On the flip side, whenever the strategy was exposed to exotics (like TRY, HUF, CNH, or less liquid contracts like XAUCNH, XAUEUR, XPTUSD), the results were largely negative. These pairs are prone to spread manipulation and sudden illiquid moves that trigger stops unnecessarily.🛠️ Changelog / What’s new✅ Removed all exotics & low-liquidity instruments from the trading universe. Now strictly focusing on:
FX Majors & clean minors (EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, AUDUSD, NZDUSD, etc.)Key indices (US500, NAS100, GER40, HK50, AUS200)Metals like XAUUSD & XAGUSDSelected large-cap stocks & top cryptos.✅ Added a dynamic spread filter:If spread exceeds a threshold relative to ATR, trade is skipped.✅ Tightened volatility checks:Avoids entering during extreme moves that often turn out to be liquidity hunts.✅ Cleaned up position sizing:Reduced risk allocation on minor cryptos or second-tier instruments.🚀 What this means for the strategyExpecting much smoother equity growth with fewer sharp pullbacks.Better capital efficiency — the algo is now focused only on the most stable, fair-priced markets.Should improve both the hit rate and the average risk/reward profile by cutting out the outliers that were dragging overall performance. 💭 Personal noteThis was a valuable learning phase. Sometimes less is more — by trimming the fat and sticking to quality markets, the algorithm can do what it’s designed to do: exploit micro-edges without getting trapped by manipulated spreads or illiquid moves.
Stay tuned for the next stats update. Happy trading! 🚀
