In order to remain up to date to major economic releases, economic calendar is the best source. There are various sites available which provide information regarding this. But I personally prefer forex factory, investing and fxstreet. Economic calendars keeps you updated about the major upcoming events and thereby help you in planning your trade.

Economic calendar is one quick source to remain up to date on economic news and events but to have a quick overview I also go through Bloomberg, market watch, the street and trading economics.

Me personally, before to start trading day I am checking the economic calendar - because I do not want to be surprised from any news :)
Also, never trade in the first 10 to 15 minutes after sitting in front of the terminal.
And even after release, I am not watching / comparing or trying to analyze the news data - just, if I am trading I am watching the chart and the movement where it going, not where I am thinking should going :)

I personally prefer Economic Calendar ( the most. However for reading good quality informative articles and analysis one can go for the market watch & fxstreet. Analysis by Kathy Lien is also very good and gives clear picture of the currency market.
