No, $7 is way too much. One Lot should be no more than $4, better less.
Look at this broker : Tickmill, they have $4
My broker is Atom8 (a small broker) and is even bettar than Tickmill.
In general the bigger your account the less commission you pay.

To me a very fast connection is also VERY important because I trade the news and the prices move a lot in 1 SECOND !

I can not work with brokers which are having their servers too far away from London. For example GDM has it's server in Singapore, and the speed is way too low for me.
