Canada Ivey PMI s.a
The monthly indicator of economic activity that is compiled by the Ivey Business School at Western University and evaluates the fluctuation in economic activity from month to month as suggested by a panel of purchasing managers from throughout Canada is referred to as the Ivey Buying Managers Index (PMI). Upon being provided with month-end statistics, members of the Ivey PMI panel are asked whether their organization's activity is higher, the same as, or lower than it was the previous month of the following categories: purchasing, personnel, inventory, supplier deliveries, and pricing. Both the public and private sectors are represented in the PMI. A headline number of more than 50 indicates an increase in purchases over the previous month, while a headline value less than 50 shows a fall in purchases over the previous month.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the CAD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the CAD.
