Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages are the most important categories in the consumer price index in Fiji (28.3% of total weight). Followed by Transportation accounting for 14.5% of total GDP, Housing and Utilities (11.7%), Education (10.2%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (7.7%), and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (7.7%). The remaining 19.9% of the total weight is composed of Furniture, Household Goods, and Maintenance, Communication, Recreation and Culture, Restaurants and Hotels, Clothing and Footwear, and Health and Welfare.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the FJD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the FJD.
