Georgia Balance of Trade
As a result of Russia's trade blockade, Georgia's trading deficits are growing. A failure to diversify its exports has resulted in the country relying mainly on agriculture and resource exploration with little added value. Oil, automobiles, pharmaceutical items, wheat and meslin, sugar, and electrical equipment are among Georgia's most important imports. Among Georgia's most important trading partners are Turkey, Azerbaijan, the Ukrainian Republic, Germany, Russia, the United States, and Bulgaria.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the GEL while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the GEL.
