Hong Kong Business Confidence
When it comes to business conditions, the Quarterly Business Tendency Survey in Hong Kong assesses the expectations of entrepreneurs on changes in their business situation in relation to the preceding quarter. Manufacturing, construction, wholesale and retail trade, accommodation and food services, transportation, storage, and courier services, information and communications, financing and insurance, real estate, and professional and business services are the sectors included in the survey which 560 senior managers participate. The poll result is shown as a net balance, which is the difference between the proportion of respondents who chose a better perspective and the percentage of respondents who chose a worse perspective in the survey. A positive sign implies that an upward trend is likely, whilst a negative sign indicates that a downward trend is likely.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the HKD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the HKD.
