The change in the general level of prices of products and services that a particular population acquires, uses, or pays for consumption during a set period of time in the country is measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Indonesia. 44 provincial capital cities and regency capital cities in the country are included in the index. Food, beverages, and tobacco (which account for 25% of the total weight), housing, water, electricity, and household fuel (20.4%), transportation (12.4%), and food and beverage providers/restaurants (8.7%) are the most significant categories in Indonesia's CPI. In addition, household equipment, tools, and regular maintenance (6%), personal care and other services (5.9%), information, communication, and financial services (5.8%), education (5.6%), and clothing and footwear (5.4%) are also categories included in the index.  The remaining 4.7% is divided between health and recreation, sports, and culture.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the IDR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the IDR.
