Responses to surveys provided to purchasing managers in a panel of over 250 manufacturers are used to produce the Tengri Partners Kazakhstan Manufacturing PMI, which is compiled by IHS Markit. Panelists are divided into groups based on their contributions to GDP and are stratified by particular sectors and firm sizes. Responses to surveys are received in the second half of each month and are used to determine the direction of change as compared to the preceding month. Each survey variable is assigned a diffusion index, which is then calculated. A composite index is calculated as the sum of the percentage of higher replies multiplied by half the percentage of unaltered responses. When the indicators are between 0 and 100, they show an overall gain in compared to the previous month, whilst a value less than 50 shows an overall decline in comparison to the previous month. After then, the indices are seasonally adjusted. The main figure is the Purchasing Manager's Index (PMI) (PMI). In order to calculate the PMI, the following five indices are used: New Orders (30%), Output (25%), Employment (20%), Supplier Delivery Times (15%), and Stocks of Purchases (10%). The Supplier's Delivery Times Index is reversed for the purpose of calculating the PMI so that it moves in a direction that is similar to the other indices.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the KZT while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the KZT.
