Food accounts for 40% of the overall CPI, followed by non-food items, which account for 35%, and services, which account for the remaining 25% of the total, are the major groups of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Moldova.  Meat (8.1%), fruits and vegetables (6.2%), milk and dairy products (5.5%), and bread (2.9%) are the most popular food items. Clothing and footwear (5.9%) and fuel (5.9%) account for the majority of non-food products, while housing (10.5%), utilities (8.7%), and transportation (2.4%).

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the MDL while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the MDL.
