The most significant categories in Mongolia's consumer price index are food and non-alcoholic beverages (which account for 39.7% of overall weight); apparel and footwear (15.3%); and housing, electricity, water, gas, and other fuels (10.8%). Other categories that are also included in the index are:  transportation (9%), furnishings, domestic equipment, and tools (5.6%), education (5.4%), recreation and culture (3.1%), communication (2.9%), alcoholic beverages, and tobacco (2.8%), miscellaneous products and services (2.7%), health (1.8%), as well as restaurants and hotels (1%).

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the MNT while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the MNT.
