Among the three main components of the consumer price index in Mozambique, the most significant are food and non-alcoholic beverages (30.3% of total weight), transportation (18.7%), and restaurants and hotels (12.9%). Housing and utilities (7.8%), clothing and footwear (7.7%), household contents, equipment, and maintenance (6.9%), and communication (5.9 percent) are among the other categories. A total of 9.9% of the total weight is accounted for by education, miscellaneous goods & services, recreation & culture, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and health.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the MZN while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the MZN.
