Housing and utilities are the most important categories in Namibia's consumer price index, accounting for 28.4% of total weight. Followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages (account for 16.5%), transportation (14.3%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (12.6%), furnishings and household equipment (5.5%), and miscellaneous products and services (5.4%). The remaining 17.6% of the total weight is made up of communication, education, recreation and culture, apparel and footwear, health, and hotels, cafés, and restaurants.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the NAD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the NAD.
