Netherlands Balance of Trade
The economy in the Netherlands is export-oriented that obtains more than two-thirds of its gross domestic product (GDP) from the retail trade. The most important exports are machinery and transport equipment (which account for 28% of total exports), mineral fuels (which account for 23%), food (which accounts for 11%), apparel and footwear (which accounts for 10%), and medicines (5%). The most important imports into the Netherlands are gas (which accounts for 29% of overall imports), machinery (which accounts for 26%), and food and live animals (which accounts for 8.6%). The most important trading partners are Germany (accounts for 24% of total exports and 17% of all imports) and Belgium (12% of exports and 10% imports). China, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States are among other major trading partners of the Netherlands.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
