Transactions involving debit, credit, and charge cards with retailers located in New Zealand are covered by the electronic card transactions series. Indicators of changes in consumer spending and economic activity can be derived from this indicator.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the NZD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the NZD.
