New Zealand Westpac Consumer Confidence
The Westpac McDermott Miller Consumer Confidence Index, which is issued on a quarterly basis in New Zealand, measures the amount of confidence that consumers have in the country's economic performance. When people answer five internationally standardized questions about their own financial circumstances, national economic expectations, and attitudes toward big purchases in percentage form, the Consumer Confidence Index is computed. It is the sum of 100 plus the average of the difference between positive and negative replies given in the survey. A number greater than 100 indicates greater optimism than pessimism, whilst a number lower than 100 indicates greater pessimism.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the NZD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the NZD.
