Africa's most developed country, Nigeria, is one of the continent's wealthiest. In terms of GDP, the services industry is by far the most important, accounting for approximately half of overall GDP. Information and communication, which combined account for around 10% of total output, are one of the fastest expanding segments in the Services sector. In the past, agriculture accounted for the majority of GDP, today, it accounts for approximately 23%. Despite being the most important exports, crude petroleum and natural gas account for only 11% of total GDP. The remaining 16% of GDP is accounted for by industry and construction.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the NGN while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the NGN.
