Pakistan Balance of Trade
As a result of the country's high energy imports, Pakistan has been experiencing a continuous trade imbalance since 2003. Pakistan's major commercial partner, China, has surpassed the United States in terms of volume of trade since 2012. China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Malaysia have all experienced significant trade deficits in recent years. Pakistan has surpluses in trade with the United States, Afghanistan, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the PKR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the PKR.
