The Consumer Price Index in Rwanda is composed of two primary components: Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (which account for 39% of total weight) and Housing and Utilities (which account for 18.3% of total weight). Transportation (7.7%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (6.8%), Restaurants and Hotels (6.4%), Clothing and Footwear (5.3%), and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (5.3%) are among the other categories in the index. The remaining 11.3% of the total weight is divided among the following categories: Household Contents, Equipment and Maintenance, Communication, Recreation and Culture, Education, and Healthcare.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the RWF while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the RWF.
