Despite the fact that Serbia is not yet a member of the European Union, a free trade agreement was negotiated in 2008, making the European Union Serbia's most important trading partner. Foreign commerce in Serbia is dominated by natural resources, mostly metals, but industrial commodities and agriculture also contribute a great value to the country's overall trade.
