Housing (25 percent of total weight) and food (22%) are the two most important categories in the Singapore consumer price index. Transportation (16%), education (7%), health (6%), communication (5%), and apparel and footwear (3%) are all included in the index. The remaining 16% of the total weight is composed of recreation, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and other items.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the SGD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the SGD.
