South Africa Mining Production YoY
The index of mining production volume is a statistical measure of the volume of mining production in South Africa. Coal is the most important sector, accounting for 24% of total mining production, followed by platinum group metals (23%), gold (16%), iron ore (12%), other non-metallic minerals (6%), diamonds (4%), manganese ore and chromium ore (3% each), other metallic minerals, building materials, and nickel (2% each), and copper (1%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the ZAR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the ZAR.
