Business leaders' optimism about the economy's performance in the manufacturing sector is measured by the Company Survey Index (BSI) in South Korea in the current month and their outlook for the following month. The BSI index is based on information collected by a poll which was conducted with about 2800 enterprises in 15 areas, the subjects in the poll including sales, inventory, manufacturing facilities, pricing structures, labor force, and profitability. The net difference between the number of positive replies and the number of negative replies for each of the indicators assessed is computed for each indicator measured. an index rating above 100 is indicating an improving perception, while a rating below 100 is indicating a deteriorating perception.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the KRW while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the KRW.
