Sri Lanka Inflation Rate YoY
Food products (which account for 41% of the index) and non-food products (which account for the remaining 59%) are the two major groups in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Sri Lanka. A majority of food products are constituted of the following: bread and cereals (79.9%), fish and marine food (6%), and vegetables (5.7%). Housing water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (23.7%), transportation (12.3%), and restaurants and hotels (5.8%) are the most significant non-food items.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the LKR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the LKR.
