Suriname Balance of Trade
Suriname has a trade surplus as a result of the export of bauxite. Suriname is also a net exporter of crude oil, gold, hardwood, and bananas. Suriname is a net importer of clothing, food, fuel, and machinery. The United States is Suriname's most important trading partner (accounting for 23% of overall exports and 26% of overall imports). Other major trading partners are the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Guyana.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the SRD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the SRD.
