The Business Tendency Index (BTI) in Uganda assesses the level of optimism that executives have about the current and predicted outlook for production, order levels, employment, prices, and access to financing. Among the primary areas of the economy covered by the index are construction, manufacturing, wholesale trade, agriculture, and other services. An index reading above 50 suggests an increasing prognosis, while a reading below 50 suggests a deteriorating outlook.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the UGX while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the UGX.
