United States 52-Week Bill Auction
In the United States, the 52-week bill, which is also known as the 12-month bill or the 1-year bill, is a percentage yield on treasury notes that mature in 52 weeks. Since the yield rate can be a good indicator of the state of the US government's debt, an increase in the rate may signal the beginning of economic growth, while a reduction in the rate may suggest the beginning of a downturn.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the USD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the USD.

Reflecting a continued plunge by orders for transportation equipment, the Commerce Department released a report on Tuesday showing a steep drop by new orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods in the month of July. The Commerce Department said durable goods orders slumped by 2.8 percent in July after plummeting by a revised 9.4 percent in June.
