United States Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve (Board) and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) have equal authority to set interest rates in the United States. After receiving recommendations from one or more of the regional Federal Reserve Banks, the Board makes a decision on discount rate modifications. The FOMC makes decisions on open market activities, such as central bank money levels and the federal funds market rate.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the USD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the USD.
