United States Markit Composite PMI
When it comes to business conditions in the United States, the Markit Composite PMI Output Index measures both manufacturing and service industries (60% from the manufacturing sector and 40% from the services sector). In order to compile the index, data is collected from a sample survey of over 1,000 enterprises, which included factors such as sales and new orders as well as employment, inventory, and prices. A value greater than 50 implies an increase in business activity, whereas a reading less than 50 suggests a decrease in business activity.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the USD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the USD.
