Consumption of food and non-alcoholic beverages accounts for 31.3% of the total weight of the consumer price index in Zimbabwe, followed by housing and utilities (27.2%), transport (8.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (6.5%). Among the other categories are: household contents, equipment, and maintenance (5.3%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.9%), clothing and footwear (4.3%), and education (4.3%). A total of 7.5% of the overall weight is allocated to communication, recreation, and culture, health, restaurants, and hotels.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the BWP while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the BWP.
