MT5 does not hedge
MT4 doesThat is NOT TRUE. : http://www.metaquotes.net/en/company/news/4678
Even MetaQuots-Demo support Hedging.
Actually there are 3 type of MT5 : (old)NETTING, (new)HEDGING, (new)EXCHANGE :

I read a lot about the pros and cons of MT5 but I believe it is only a matter of time for MetaQuotes to fix all issues and pick up the missing pieces to make MT5 truly superior. I plan to give it a try at some point in the near future.
A knight's tale!

Well not exactly,
MT5 client allows it but when I tried to trade it did not hedge so it also depends on kind of mt5 broker offers
And here we goes MT5 bring a lot of confusion

Good that you mentioned this. When it comes to confusion, I guess it is more related to the broker setup rather than the platform. As I read in other comments, some people have the hedge option in normal live (non-beta) environment.

Metaquotes added hedging to MT5 a while ago (https://smnweekly.com/2016/03/25/mt5-gets-new-beta-version-finally-features-hedging/). It was what finally made the platform more popular to begin with it, many people didn't want to use it because it lacked that feature.

Stopping development of MT4 does not mean MT4 will disappear. Perhaps not new builds will be released, but not stopping the most widespread trading terminal in world.
MT4 will stay for many years forward.
They are still releasing updates
but they also increased fees for brokers for mt4
to push them to mt5

I believe this would be long process and the MT4 will work for many years. The switch from MT4 to MT5 will require a lot of work for the brokers itself and changes in contracts, accounts, compliances and etc.
Something I have heart and not sure if it is true or not, but: "Metaquotes have left a port in MT5 constantly open and they could have access to your terminal" - This is what I have heart and repeat - not sure whether it is correct :)

Well that is how client (mt4 terminal) works, it is sending info and receiving info from/to server. This happen always.

The popularity of Metatrader 5 has grown even more in the past months, according to fintech company Metaquotes, as a number of large international brokers adopted the platform and started offering it to their clients. (https://smnweekly.com/2017/02/02/fintech-metaquotes-mt5-brokers-grow-in-number-include-bcs-forex-instaforex-liteforex/) It looks like the measures they took to shoehorn it on the market really had an effect.

That's true. I am checking on demo the MT5 just to be prepared for the future as I believe more and more brokers will start offering it. It seems to have cool features, like for instance to save a chart as a png file in an easy way without screenshots etc. Will continue digging deeper into it.

Good point Nina! I would add that I like the new Market Watch features in MT5, like 4 tabs under the list of instruments and the quick visible search to add a new symbol. This is more intuitive for the user. 😄 My early tests of an MT5 demo seem promising!
