Hey guys,
I want to share something very important to me with everyone here, it's even more important than trading. However, I wanted to make the announcement here as it started here. B1FXprof and I were discussing a recurring topic on the forum, whether successful traders would help others, when a light went on and I knew how I wanted to spend the rest of my life on this planet. One of the biggest problems that we have as teachers, spouses, business people or even world leaders is communications.
Logically, if we as a people were ever to move towards a world peace, one of the first things that would be expected is the development and use of a simple world language. Evey place on earth could be bi-lingual from childhood, their native language and a common language of the world. We could all communicate with everyone on the planet without any interpreters. A lot of misunderstanding could be avoided. And it starts with us because for the first time in the history of the human race we can do something that has never happened before. We can act as a unified people and call for our own common language.
Please join us with any help that you can to get this idea to go global. We're traders, we're clever, go look at the web page and give me your best ideas as to how we can set this thing on fire.
CommonLanguageAppeal.org
I have every confidence in this project, if we traders can work together, the rest of the world is a cinch.
Thanks everyone,
Bob

Have you looked at Esperanto. There were also other international auxiliary languages too, as far as I know Esperanto had the widest following. You might have looked at it but here you go: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_auxiliary_language
If it is in any way a motivation (or not), George Soros' father was apparently an Esperanto speaker. Wonder if that had any effect on Soros being such a successful trader.

Actually, I didn't have any language in mind, the benefit of using Esperanto is that there are currently over 2 million natural speakers and current language courses. However, it was first created back in the 1800s and a lot of our world has changed. There are already several versions of Esperanto. And, there are other languages that already exist as well but it might be better for modern linguist to develop one that is even more universal and relevant to life as it is today.
However, I think we traders have a lot to gain by having a common language and are uniquely positioned to be able to start the ball rolling. This is something that everyone wants. The ability to travel and be able to order a pizza. The ability to sell your house to a new Chinese couple without an interpreter. But mostly because it is the first step to a dream that we always thought too big to ever really have a chance of happening, the dream of world peace. That may never happen and will almost certainly not happen within my lifetime, but if we can get one step closer, we will have accomplished something most notable with our lives. So, since it won't cost us anything to try, why not?
To build some momentum, maybe everyone could post here just to say that you will write a letter to your country's government and ask at least 4 others to look at the website and to do the same. I will be sending out news releases from here (US) and telling the local TV news people about our goal. Anyone wanting to do the same in your area or has some other ideas how we can get the word out, also post here. The more ideas that we have to work with, the more likely it will be that we will be successful.
It's always hard to see success when you first start out but if we can believe it, we can achieve it. And I for one, believe.
I will be sending out my letters to my representatives this weekend.

We already have a universal standard language. It's called English. No need to learn another made-up languange.

Not having any particular language in mind might be a better idea to start with - start from blank and incorporate all kind of different elements. I wish you success on your endevaour. It sure will not be an easy project. And like you say traders can benefit from it, much easier access to information and information is power.
But will they really benefit just from a single language? That would assume that the language would convey correct information. But will it necessarily mean what it says just because everyone can understand the meaning. A language is backed by the culture(s) behind it, say, take the difference between British and American English for example, or even different dialects within a country. So for a fundamental trader to be able to read through what happens, he will need a substantial knowledge of the 'culture', business mentality and what not to take it in the real way it is meant to be. So I don't think that a 'mere' language would convey that.
That's why personally I'm not subscribing to the idea. First, to be able to truly understand something you would need a peek into the culture behind the language, because that's what has formed the language to a large extent. Second, I have no issue with the different languages, certainly makes life more fun. As the saying goes, when you are in Rome, order a pizza in Italian, or whatever it goes like.
Then again back into the trading world, you will always have asymmetric information. This imperfection creates the swings and the opportunities for most traders out there. A single language would not make it a clear cut better trading environment. And again, I'm fine with that.
What's more interesting is your proposal to have one letter representing one sound, that would deviate fair bit away from English, but would be a lot more world-friendly. Could be an interesting linguistic and social experiment. Wish you good luck.

And before English we had Latin but when Rome fell so did the language. Since these natural languages are accepted because of the military domination of the people, there is a love hate relationship connected to the language. We don't need emotions, we have too much of that all ready. It's better to have a non aligned language of the whole human race, that belongs to all of us and doesn't represent one group over another. What happens when the US loses out to China, we all have to learn Mandarin?
English will still be spoken in the local countries that speak English, but educated people will also speak 'World'. When anyone visits, they will be able to find hotels, food and medical assistance with no help. And the same is true when we travel.
A Common language will not make any changes to the markets but it will make it easier to find a broker that speaks our language, they will all speak our language. You can open bank accounts in areas that will give you the most advantage (higher interest rates, etc.) In fact the benefits are so extensive that a little thought will come up with pages of benefits.
The draw backs? People hate change. It is one of the first things personal development coaches work on so they can get to everything else. Dr. Spencer Johnson has become famous because of his book on accepting change called 'Who Moved My Cheese', recommended reading for all ages.
'No need to learn another made-up language,'
all languages are made up, but some are made by design with intelligence and developed within preset controls. Where natural languages are mostly by accident without rules and are pretty much a mess. We teach English to our children when they are born, they study English all through school and when they get to collage, they have to study more English. If you have to take your birth language when your in collage, it's just way too difficult.
Please everyone, this is way too important for us and our children, support this, help where you can. If you are a good person, do good. A common language will not make world peace but for such a thing to exist, a common language would almost be a prerequisite.
I will ask everyone again, will you help? (Send a letter and ask 4 others to look at the website and do what is the 'good thing' to do). Will you post here that you will help. Some will get on board only if they don't have to be first. How many will join me in being amongst the first?
Please post your support. Thanks.

Humanity is failing, I have been aware of the decay for some time. The numbers are verifying the observations. Every generation has complained about the young and how they would never get away with what that next generation does. With this awareness, we tend to dismiss our apprehensions as typical of the elderly. Until you can measure just what humanity is and is becoming.
Tensions are mounting world wide and we are going to start killing each other again. Not just by the thousands, but by the millions. If you want to know what humanity is, take a look at what we do best, we are great killers. We kill each other, we kill animals to hang their heads on our walls. We kill wales when they are about to go extinct. We are killing our planet by poisoning our waters, air and land. We are really good killers. And we complain about cancer, hah! cancer can't hold a stick to man when it comes to real killing. We have centuries of practice.
“All we keep saying is give peace a chance” John Lennon.
In the 60's we had a greeting, “peace”, we had a symbol “the Peace sign”, and we had a belief, “this is the dawning of an age of Aquarius”, the hope of a realm of peace. Then came what the media calls, the “ME generation”.
Want a rude wake up call, reread the various threads, but this time, don't read for content, read the emotions. These are all humans at our best. Discourteous, uncaring and spiteful of others' accomplishments. Some build, many others tear down. What is the solution? Are we able to evolve as a species or is this it?
There are two ways to solve our problems. The first is to talk things out, but after 5,000 years we still can't communicate effectively in our own language and have no ability to understand the guy in the other uniform, crying his eyes out before we kill him. Because the other way is the tried and proven, WAR.
So now, we can solve all of our problems with one push of the button. In a bright nuclear flash, all of humanities problems are solved. No one left to morn the loss of their children in battle, no more hunger, no more tears. Just peace, the peace of the grave, but there will be peace.
There have been around 100 viewers of this thread. I got reprimanded for posting the same invitation on several threads for everyone to add their voice to the one here crying in the wilderness. There have been 2 respondents. And one, who didn't bother to go read the link as to why we need to do this, posted something already used to show why we do need to do this.
Is he against any attempt to make the world a better place to live by joining in a group effort. I mean, what group effort is there in forcing English or any other authoritarian dominated language down other peoples throats. No, probably not, he was just not thinking about what he was saying. And that is typical for humans, especially on a form where they can say the most awful things to one another without worry because no one knows who they are.
I got into forex trading to create something that would benefit mankind, but what I read from the forum is that no one would make and sell anything good. That is the “ME” generation, can't understand the concept of us.
We have lost good traders because of the back biting, HolyCow being just the latest. Now, I hear your silence. I am going to join HolyCow and all the others that I respect but have chosen to not deal with the emotional baths, every time we try to push the envelope. (Idioms; push the envelope, to stretch established limits, as in technological advance or social innovation.)
I will be un-subscribing to all topics but this one. I announced this new idea here because the idea was first developed here, but the apathy apparent here, has clearly suggested that I will not be getting the help that I hoped for so I will need to take my skills and experience and go my way.
Good bye Ethan. I will gladly bare any reprimands for doing the right thing. I asked for support and got a reprimand from you for posting the same invitation to many threads. OK, but here's what it costs. To date, I am the only one who has developed and already proven a trading system that has taken over 3000 trades with no losses. But you don't need this kind of a mind. You want the ones that drive off the good traders. I don't understand it but I don't have to because this is your forum and I agree that you have the right to do what ever you want with your forum.

' Languages are not only communication tools, but also integral parts of world culture.'
And you won't lose that, every area will still speak as they always did, but children will also be taught the language of Earth. Anyone who wants to learn the whole Earth language can do so but there are no requirements. It would be like building the infrastructure upon which a new concept of who and what we are is formed. Kind of like an extension of the internet itself.
Plus one important factor, for the first time in the history of the world, the people of Earth will have work together to make home (Earth) a better place to live. It is at least worth a try, because the alternative really sucks.

'Hi, Bob, Will the language of Earth be 1st language for everyone or 2nd?'
In the past, every time there had been a universal language of any type, it has been a second language to most of the people but to some it had become the primary language because of their position. Interestingly, while most people never learned the common language, those who had where generally treated with greater respect and were coincidentally more upward mobile.
Languages tend to bind people together, like the the Jews for example. Centuries without a home country but they kept their identity through their language and to a lessor extent, their faith. Americans have a much closer affinity with Australians, New Zealanders, and of course Canadians than we do Mexicans. England was of course the mother country so there is that relationship as well but it is our common language that binds us as a people. We just need to expand our boarders a bit and begin binding all Earthlings as a single group.
If, the Earth ever got invaded by aligns, that would bind us together in no time at all. A common enemy is much more cohesive than a common language but it is only temporary and it ends in the destruction of something. So in the absence of a common enemy, how about a common friend? Let's talk...

My but it's quiet. There is something to be learned here. It is much easier for us to talk about our hobbies than something that could change the direction of the world toward a better place. I thought that there would be some discussion on ways that such lofty goals might actually be accomplished.
At least, I figured that someone would have a reason why they thought that encouraging the adoption of a universal language was a really bad idea and anyone who would dream up such an idea must be out to scam someone and should be drummed out of existence.
But silence? I just don't know what to think.

I'm definetly all for this.
One language will definetly be required if we want world peace, harmony and everything like it. Of course, that is just one of the many steps on the way.
Being someone who doesn't speak english as my native language I (and quite frankly, some of you who do have english as your first language) will miss nuances of some things said.
what language this will be is beyond my wits, but I suppose it will be an easy language with easy grammar.
Cheers,
Tom

Ironman, and honor to have you drop by. Sorry it took so long to post but life has a way of getting in the way.
We have added a fund raising campaign to the website called Fundly, https://fundly.com/common-language-appeal
It cost $300 to send out a press release and Face Book will eat a $100 in no time. $5,000 for a decent video, These costs are going to slow us down unless others catch the vision and want to help out. So while we are not asking for any financial support, we have made it possible for people to help out that way also.
It seems that there are some organizations set up to help people make things better for others like we're doing. We are looking into a few of them like change.com If anyone has any ideas or knows some of these helper sites please post here and let us know.
Doors are beginning to open, with a little support, I see an Earthen language made available for everyone in the very near future.

Ah Togr, my respects Sir.
You are one of the few that have been around longer than I have. With all of the bravado that goes on in these forums aside, there is no replacement for experience. After reading your posts for, what about 3 years? I still can't say that it seems like I know you, just that I wish it were possible.
Now the question, 'Which lng is it? Chinese or English? ;)'
That's the question that we will need to answer if our common language project fails. We would like to disassociate our communication abilities with politics. Ironman told me that some French speakers refuse to speak English, not sure why but there is too much negative emotion associated with any national language. By starting from scratch, we can make it easier to learn, more resilient against future identity problems, and more universal in pronunciation. But the big one that even traders all agree with, it limits emotions and that will strengthen communications all by itself.
When I get tired, and can't motivate myself to look up one more thing or post one more word, I visualize myself trying to learn Mandarin Chinese and all of a sudden I find my second wind. I can do this, a universal language is easy, Chinese is difficult.
Thanks for posting my friend, always happy to see you're still with us.

Bob, making up your own language and convincing other people to speak it is not going to solve a damn thing or make the world a better place. I am speaking as someone who had to learn english as a second language, and I don't regret it. If it were up to me, Spanish would be the universal language. Grammar rules are much simpler and you know exactly how to pronounce a word from how it's written, and how to spell a word from how it's pronounced.
That being said, what you or your committee will consider the perfect language, thousands of people will never accept. You will need to get concurrence and cooperation from everyone in the planet, and that is simply impossible. Languages are learned in our childhood and wire the brain in a certain way to pick up and distinguish phonemes specific to that language. That's why children that move to a different country at an early age (with more neural plasticity) speak the new language like a native, but an adult cannot.
Either way, it's not language, but human nature that stands in the way of your lofty goals. To get people to stop being assholes to each other you'd have to convince them that they are somehow different parallel instances of the same conscious entity; different manifestations of the same observer. Only then will people move away from selfish pillaging and stealing to a true altruistic / do-no-harm existence. This of course flies in the face of millions of years of evolution resulting in hardcoded behaviors that help our bodies survive in a challenging environment with limited resources. This idea does not become evident until one truly ponders the nature of existence, consciousness, and conservation of energy.
As much as I'd like to believe this is going to happen, widespread acceptance of this belief is never going to happen, the nice people will be crushed by the assholes, and we'll wind up annihilating each other in the end.
