Japan Reuters Tankan Index
In Japan, the Reuters Tankan is a monthly survey of prominent corporations that was previously known as the Telerate Tankan until it was renamed following the acquisition of Quick Money line Telerate Corp. by the Thomson Reuters Group. 200 manufacturers and 200 non-manufacturers are represented on the panel. In order to provide early indicators of the BOJ's quarterly tankan, the monthly numbers are published every two weeks. When the percentage of respondents who say business circumstances are poor is subtracted from the percentage of respondents who say business conditions are favorable, the indices are produced.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the JPY while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the JPY.

Japan Private Sector Expands Most In 4 Months
Japan's private sector grew the most in four months in June as manufacturing activity returned to growth amid stronger increase in services activity, flash data from S&P Global showed on Monday. The au Jibun Bank flash composite output index posted 51.4 in June, which was up from 50.2 seen in May. A score above 50.0 indicates expansion.

Japan Core Inflation Accelerates More Than Forecast
Japan's core inflation accelerated more than expected in May but headline inflation softened slightly, official data showed Friday. Core inflation that excludes prices of fresh food rose to 3.7 percent from 3.5 percent in April, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications reported. This was the fastest since January 2023.
