Malta Balance of Trade
With its advantageous geographic location and abundant limestone reserves, Malta has a thriving export industry that is fueled by these factors. Malta, as an island, produces only around 20% of its food demands, has limited access to freshwater, and does not have access to renewable energy sources. As a result of this confluence of forces, the economy of Malta is highly reliant on international commerce. Exports from Malta are primarily composed of electrical machinery and mechanical appliances. Other items include fish and crustaceans, pharmaceutical products, and printed material. For its part, Malta imports mineral fuels and oils, nonelectrical machinery, aircraft and other transportation equipment, plastic and other semi-manufactured commodities, food, beverages, and tobacco. Malta joined the Euro in 2008, underscoring the European Union's position as the country's most important commercial partner, with significant trade flows originating in particular from Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

German Unemployment Rate Rises In September
Germany's unemployment increased more than expected in September as subdued economic activity damped job creation, official data revealed on Tuesday. The number of unemployed increased by 14,000 in September, reversing a fall of 7,000 in August, the Federal Employment Agency said. Unemployment was forecast to rise by 8,000.

Eurozone Economic Sentiment Rises In September
Eurozone economic confidence improved moderately in September due to the rise in consumer confidence, monthly survey data from European Commission revealed on Monday. The economic sentiment index rose to 95.5 in September from 95.3 in the previous month. The reading was expected to drop to 95.2. All sub-indices of economic sentiment deteriorated in September except consumer confidence.
