The services industry is the most important, accounting for 79% of gross domestic product (GDP), in the UK. The most important sectors within services are: government, education, and health (19% of total GDP), real estate (12%), professional, scientific, and technical activities and administrative and support services (12%), wholesale and retail trade (11%), financial and insurance services (8%). Industry accounts for 21% of GDP, with the main components falling into the following categories: manufacturing (10% of total GDP) and construction (6% of total GDP). Agriculture contributes only 1% to the country's gross domestic product. On the spending side, the GDP is composed of three components: household consumption (which accounts for 65% of GDP), government expenditure (20%), and gross fixed capital formation (17%). Exports of goods and services account for 28% of GDP, while imports account for 30%, subtracting 2% from the country's gross domestic product.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the GBP while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the GBP.

The UK economy stagnated in July, posing further challenges to Chancellor Rachel Reeves as any tax hikes or spending cuts would again dampens activity. UK House Prices Rise For Third Month: Halifax
UK house prices increased for the third straight month to hit the highest on record in August, data from the mortgage lender Halifax showed Friday. House prices grew 0.3 percent in August from a month ago. However, this was slightly weaker than the 0.4 percent increase in July. Prices increased for the third straight month and logged a faster-than- expected rise of 0.2 percent.

UK Construction Sector Continues To Shrink
The UK construction sector contracted for the eighth consecutive month in August due to marked reductions in the housing and civil engineering works, survey data published by S&P Global showed on Thursday. The construction Purchasing Managers' Index posted 45.5 in August, up from 44.3 in July. However, the score remained well below the 50.0 mark indicating sharp fall in construction output.
