Australia Retail Sales Slip 0.2% In October

(RTTNews) - The value of retail sales in Australia was down a seasonally adjusted 0.2 percent on month in October, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday - coming in at A$35.767 billion.

That was in line with expectations following the 0.9 percent increase in September.

Individually, sales were up for food retailing, but down for sales of household goods, clothing, department store items, other retailing and restaurants.

By region, sales were up in Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania; sales were down in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, the Northern Territory and the Capital Territory.

On a yearly basis, retail sales gained 1.2 percent.
