Sensex, Nifty Modestly Higher In Early Trade

(RTTNews) - Indian shares were modestly higher on Tuesday ahead of the expiry of Nifty weekly futures.

The benchmark BSE Sensex was up 286 points, or 0.4 percent, at 80,651 in early trade, while the broader NSE Nifty index was up 92 points, or 0.4 percent, at 24,716.

Among the top gainers, Power Grid Corp, Reliance Industries and Eternal all rose around 2 percent.

Hero MotoCorp dropped half a percent despite reporting an 8 percent year-on-year increase in August sales.

Indraprastha Gas advanced 1.6 percent after it announced a joint venture with RVUNL to set up a solar power project.

Bharat Electronics gained half a percent after an announcement that it has received additional orders worth Rs. 644 crore since its last update on July 30.

United Breweries rose 1.3 percent as it began producing Kingfisher beer at the Ilios brewery in East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.
