Taiwan Manufacturing Contraction Slows In November - S&P Global

(RTTNews) - The manufacturing sector in Taiwan continued to contract in November, albeit at a slower pace, the latest survey from S&P Global revealed on Friday with a manufacturing PMI score of 48.3.

That's up from 47.6 in October although it remains beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Factory output in Taiwan declined for the twentieth month in a row in November. That said, the rate of contraction was the slowest seen since April as some firms reported that demand conditions were not as weak as anticipated.

Notably, the amount of new business received by manufacturers fell at only a modest pace that was the second softest since March. New export orders likewise fell at a moderate pace, and one that was much softer than seen on average in 2023 to date.
