Yes, I am with you on this one. Leverage should be kept as low as 1:50 since the risk tends to increase if we keep using high and high leverage with each trade.
ASIC leverage down

In my opinion as long as a broker is regulated it doesn’t matter where it’s headquartered. If it’s giving you the trading conditions you require, then just go for it. I am a full time scalper and for me low spreads mean everything in trading. 0 pips spreads and low commission rates of forex4you and fxview suit me well.

The ASIC has restricted leverage to 30:1 for the major currency pairs and 20:1 for minor currency pairs. These regulations will affect the people trading in CFDs and not the regular forex traders. We have to understand that there is a difference between regular trading and leverage CFD trading. If you are simply trading currency pairs then these regulations will not affect you as a trader.
Newcomers and demo trading

Demo trading is essential not only for new traders but also for experienced ones. If I am to give my own example, I started trading first demo accounts of etrade and ib, and after almost 5 months went live. This was about 2 years back. I am still using both demo and live accounts simultaneously for practicing my strategies on demo before applying them on the live account.

Checking the background of the broker is very important, like their partners and all. The ones you’ve mentioned (cmc markets, fxview) seem alright to me. Both are FCA regulated.

Looking for Broker

Funding with bitcoin is actually secure and faster, there’s no reason to worry on that. But if you want a broker that allows funding directly from bank account you can try xm or fxview. These are offshore brokers too but regulated, so again no red flags. If you would want only a US based broker you might miss out on a lot of flexibility in trading like small account size and trading fees which only the ones outside US can legally provide. However I’m not sure if these brokers accept clients from US, you’ll have to check on that.

Backtesting is crucial. Whenever you create a new strategy or using an automated one, test it once on the currency pair you want to trade. I have been doing it for USDCAD with Axitrader. I suggest to use less volatile pairs at first and then step to exotic pairs. I didn’t trade with AUDUSD as I wasn’t much convinced with the historical data I downloaded. You can do it on either of the platforms - mt4 or mt5.
