ESMA and its implication

The number of "seasoned" small traders that don't make the cut to be "Professional Trader" is insignificant compared to the number of rookies that would in 99% of the case lose their money. Plus not all small traders think like you do.I'm not a "Professional Trader" and I won't go to unregulated broker. I closed with 145 pips profit last week on one of my accounts that has only £500. It resulted about net £27 in a week. If I can close a day with +1% I call it a successful day. Of course that doesn't happen all the time.ESMA is protectin...

Plus500 had 247,000 new depositors only last year. That broker has an over 80% of their clients lose money, which means nearly 200,000 of those new clients may have lost their money. And I believe other brokers, like Avatrade had similar stats. So yes driving them away is protecting them. No one will be made to believe that their $1000 can make them rich anymore so they will not even start, that way protecting their little savings.

Okay guys, let me try to explain and no I am not trying to convince you or win any argument here I am just stating that I see the positive side of the new regulations. You will never see ESMA's good side as a seasoned trader. You have to think with a newbie's head. ESAM isn't protecting the seasoned traders, protecting the newly lured in naive clients that don't know much about trading yet but feeding the brokers with their little money.ESMA is addressing the psychology aspect of it all. Here is how I see it:Before ESMA a lot of newbies were lured in with their tiny savings and ...

@emotionaltrader I understand why you are upset but ESMA protects the majority of people that which we must accept. Forcing brokers to make it clear and visible how many of their clients lose money is already a big help and the leverage limitation is a great protection as well because all those "losers" may still lose money but lose much less.Just work with it the best you can. This ESMA regulation is a market changer, you are a trader you are used to market change so deal with it and just do your best. That's my opinion.

I didn't say that. What I meant was, if you lose, you lose less than before. When the market goes against you it takes a smaller bite.

Well it has broken through 0.6700 taking my SL line with it. I really thought that 0.6700 was a strong support. Oh well, another one bites the dust.

It hit 0.67608 today. I guess we will see. I'm going long term so might just turn out well for me and I think it did pretty well for today so far. Was up 0.36% just a minute ago.

Not necessarily. It depends what they are looking for. High risk/high return or low risk/low return? ESMA ruling is not taking away the opportunity to beat any banks' or ISA's saving offers, but it makes it safer. 80% of traders lose money. ESMA helps those people to lose less money.

It's around the same level as it's been in May 2016, April 2017 and October 2017. I entered a#about a week ago with a Buy order. I can seee now i did a bit early but I think on long term it will pay off.

I don't mind the ESMA ruling. Yes it will require more funds to trade with to actually make money but knowing the fact that nearly 80% of Forex traders lose money - while brokers do make profit - ESMA did a favour for small time players. Big time players can still go with large risks but people with smaller accounts will not lose much with mistakes now. And mistakes are more frequent than getting things right.
