Hi all, share your thoughts here on the criteria of a profitable EA. Do you used DD, PF or profit trades (%) ?

profit low or high does not matter too much. Most important is able to generate profit every month over long term. For normal trading day, DD must below 10%, if some eco crisis suddenly happen then the EA should have DD of max 50%.

This is what i can accept as good and profitable EA.

Unfortunately, I have never seen any profitable EA for a long run; I see all of pro traders trade manually.

Whatever you test for, please use 99.9% Modelling Quality. I've seen a lot of guys praising an EA but when you look at the results they are testing with 25% Modelling Quality or worse.

Yes, the ratio is very low; but I know a good trader with trading EA’s! Basically, he is a EA developer.

stability is the first and most important fact for an acceptable EA.
Risk reward: its must be 1:1.2 at least for each position ( if lot sizes calculation is whole account: lot size * 700Pips on EURUSD)
backtest is just a key for start forward test. no more, never trust any Backtests.
it Must use Multi Close to Close all open positions in a specific risk level , to secure funds from market tick shadows and High frequencies.

I prefer to look on drawdown only.

drawdown is very important. A lot of traders hide bad results by keeping trades open in a big drawdown

Buying when currency are cheap and selling when they are at their most expensive point is the desire of every trader. Knowing these points, however, is closer to gambling than most of them would like to admit
