Damn. I just wrote a ton about the Compuforex Trail ea, but when I tried to upload my .set file I got an error. I guess you can only attach images. Anyway the bottom line is that it works awesome with the default settings- at least with the version I use 1.1. I get all the profits of FGB with almost none of the losses. Almost every losing day for the past month has been a winner for me. As far as I'm concered, FGB should put this type of advanced percentage-trailing in their EA. There is no reason to have all these losses lately if you have a good trailing stop like what Compuforex has done. Just use the default settings and put it on a one minute chart. I have my trail start at 15 which I think is the default. I tried 10 but I think that is to close and you will get stopped out more often. Any more the 15 and you risk not trailing at all and will lose the same as FGB.
After a 15 pip start trail, it will then trail using percents. The higher percent (default 80) the longer the trail or the farther it will be from the current price. 80 % gives FGB room to ride the big trends without stopping you out on minor reversals. If you have the version of FGB that includes the source code then I think that means that you can add your own code. If that is the case is would be very easy for Mr. Compuforex to convert his ea into a library and then we could import it into FGB. Then FBG would in fact have the Compuforex trailing built in. THEN someone could test it in the MT4 Tester and see what settings are the best. The source code for 1.1 has been provided so anyone that knows MQL could easly make it into a library. I have been thinking of that for one of my own ea's, but the logic is pretty simple so I might just code my own. Also, I would like to see a break-even feature which I already have coded, but it would be nice if Compuforex and FGB would add a break-even to stop these stupid losses that should not happen if FGB would add some simple logic.

Dear FGB: Here are some very simple things you can add to your EA to prevent most of the serious losses we are seeing lately.
1. (easy) Don't trade in very obvious ranging markets.
2. (easy) Only trade in the direction of the major daily and weekly trends. (I tested this with FGB and the increase in profit was more then tripled...btw we are STILL in a bear EUR/USD market- now going on 87 days! why would your EA ever sell in a market like this when your EA is designed for long trends. By the time FGB sells in a 1 or 2 day retracement- it is always near the end of the retracement and that is why you have to many losses now. You sell near the end of the retracement and then the price goes right back up and your lose.
3. (a little work) add a percentage trailing stop like the Compuforex one. With this I have had all the big wins and amost none of the losses) almost every losing day on your account was a winning day for me because of the Compuforex trail.
4. (a tiny bit of work) add a break-even setting with two values. One for the break even level and one for the break even amount. For example after a level of 15pips profit. Set the stop loss at x number of pips. Like 10/0 or 15/5 or 20/10.

I added a basic trailing stop and the above break-even functions to my own ea and it increased profits and reduced losing trades dramatically.

Just something to think about.

I don't want to promote breaking of any rights on how we are allowed to use the indicator as I am not sure as to what those rights are, but If we own the product does that forbid any of us that know MQL to use the FGB indicator in our own ea's?
If we bought the product, and we don't share any ea's we make from the indicator- is that ok?

Because I have been thinking for a while to do this so I can add my own logic and to put the indicator to better use by putting it on autopilot so I don't have to stare at my computer all day.

Dear FGB: I forgot one more thing. If you could add one of the many good support and resistance indicators freely available (I love and use the FractalSandR - and filter your trades with it, then you could dramatically reduce your losses. I have spent a lot of time going over the FGB trades and many, many times I've seen it sell and buy right at or before a major support or resistance level, and I mean major levels like on a 4 hour or daily chart. If FGB would not buy or sell until the levels are clearly broken, then you would have much less losses. Many times I have been manually trading when the market gets close to one of these major levels and the market starts moving fast toward a previous low support as is often the case before reversals. We get a few good fast 15 minute runs right up to the support level.... Now is the worst time to sell and I'm hoping FGB does not trade- but all it seems to care about is some good 15 min runs and then it trades. I watched as FGB proceded to open 4 or 5 trades maybe more only for the price to go down about 20-30 pips- stop- and then start shooting back up. The market had been in a rally and that was the second time on the 4 hour chart to reach that support level. If FGB would have checked that it was close to a major S/R level then a major loss would have been avoided. I believe this day was one of your biggest losses in April.

Are you no longer allowing read only access to your Thinkforex account. Says 'invalid account'.

uugh... It's really late here. In one of my posts above I said we are in a very long bear market..... um, I meant Bull market.
I just look and see that we just broke though resistance to a new daily, weekly and monthy high of 1.4546.9 this is the end of the 12th hour with my broker- the start of 7am et. Now about 20 min after the new high, price is down 27 pips almost down to the resistance level. So it hasn't broken the level by very much yet. It will be interesting to see if it fully breaks though and holds the new highs. This is getting crazy. This is the longest Bull run since the last one which ended at the end of Nov 2009. Right now we are about 605 pips away from that Nov '09 high of 1.5144. I wonder if it's going up to test that Nov '09 high. If that's the case we may have one or two more months of this EUR/USD Bull market. Every time I think this trend had GOT to be over- it just keeps going.....

Any guess's on how long / how high this is going to continue? Does anyone think it could go to the levels before the market crash that started in Aug 2008? Do you think it's fighting to get back to those 2008 prices?

YESSS! Thanks Ric, that's exactly what I needed to hear! I have been considering this for a while, but was unsure about the correct settings. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

Right now FGB has 4 open trades all in the positive, if I install Compuforex now, that would mean that I have to close MT4 first because it is not in the experts folder, would that throw off FGB, which means that I would have to close the trades manually? have they fixed this problem where FGB losses track of open trades if it restarts?

FGB looses track and the trades are automatically closed after restarting MT4. At least in my version 1.3

Please email this information to support and write please forward to manager.. it will get to the programmer.. if the programmer finds this is more profitable he will make the changes and release an update.

Just something to think about.

It's not opening, if i check the task manager, i can see terminal.exe as one of the running applications, but i can't see it. I uninstalled the FGB, and now when i open my MT4, it comes up just ok......really don't know why this is happening

So were not going to be able to track it or will it just not be verified by myfxbook.

You can track it via myfxbook.

Please make sure you have latest version of MT4 with updates if having issues with loading it.

hey guys... again I'm having profit, more than you because my ea did open the positions before.... just lucky? or maybe something like my broker datafeeed is better the yours?

Probably not so smart giving read only access. It would be to easy for anyone who wanted to simply copy your trades.

How is it 98% for April, I have tracked the same trades and seems like 13-14%, am I mistaken?
